i’m mostly kidding. i don’t know enough about food or cooking to be a food blog, but recently i’ve been investing more time cooking at home. maybe it’s because of money. maybe it’s because i feel the softest breeze and suddenly it is autumn in my heart and i want to cook with root vegetables and stone fruits. anyways, this is what i’ll be serving at my next dinner party:
pesto on potatoes
i’m sure this is already a thing but let’s call it an original recipe, okay? basically, i dice up some baby golden potatoes and boil them until soft. afterwards, i toss them in some salt, pepper and jarred pesto. sometimes i’ll sprinkle a little parmesan on top. easy and cozy.
roasted cabbage with japanese bbq sauce
first, preheat your oven to about 425. then, all you need to do is cut a head of cabbage into wedges, brush the wedges evenly with olive or avocado oil and then season as you like. i prefer garlic salt, pepper and red pepper flakes but you can use whatever you have on hand. then, roast on a baking sheet for 6-10 mins, flip the wedges and let them cook for another 6-10 mins. once done, i drizzle the wedges with some bachan’s original japanese bbq sauce (any flavor will do) and toss them with some green onions. the outer layers of the cabbage are slightly crispy while the center layers are tender. so good.
air fryer s’mores
maybe you’re like my boyfriend and you’ve seen these on tiktok. i know that’s how they ended up on my radar and now i’m obsessed. these are such an easy and fun fall snack i’ll be eating all season.
sauteed cauliflower
they’re in season! just chop a head of cauliflower into decent sized florets, toss them in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic salt and onion powder. sautee them over medium heat until tender.
breakfast scramble
i use the same baby golden potatoes except i cook them in a pan with oil with some diced onion and spinach before scrambling in a few eggs. nothing complicated. goes well on toast with a cup of coffee.
cinnamon sugar peaches
i often have these in the morning on top of oatmeal. melt some butter in a pan, add your sliced peaches and sprinkle on some cinnamon and sugar as you cook them. i’m sure these would taste delicious on top of vanilla ice cream, too.
